Join us as a Data Scientist (m/f/d) on a shared journey that matters!

Behind the scenes of our well-known vehicles, MOIA GmbH develops the technical products underlying MOIA. Our team of more than 200 employees develops an on-demand ridesharing service in the form of an end-to-end integrated product, from hub, fleet, and driver management to passenger and B2B solutions. At our offices in Berlin and Hamburg, international teams of developers, engineers, designers, and strategists work on a shared mission. As a tech company, more than half of our employees are developers. We pursue value-driven development based on our product values of comfort, reliability, safety, and privacy.

The enthusiasm we have is obvious. We love our cities, we love living in them and we love staying in motion with it. Simultaneously, we aspire to be a leading company in the fields of rethinking mobility and improving urban transportation by making it more relaxed, more affordable and an entirely positive experience for everyone.

MOIA gets things moving. On a shared journey – towards an easier, smarter, and more meaningful future.

About your team

The Route Analytics team develops methods and tooling to support smooth and efficient execution of MOIA rides. Alternatively, if your interests lie more in exploratory data analysis and supporting first class analytics infrastructure to enable teams across our different business domains the Analytics team would be happy to talk to you.

What you will do

  • Interact with different product teams, understand their algorithms and processes, and develop tools for improving explainability, observability and performance of MOIA’s algorithms and systems.
  • Investigate complex patterns in diverse data sources and causal relationships between different components of the MOIA system. Write research reports and explain the results to business stakeholders.
  • Propose and prototype data-based solutions to business problems that you explore together with product analysts. Collaborate with product development teams to enable transformation of prototypes to features.
  • You will be part of a team where continuous integration, peer reviews, code reviews, are practiced.

What will help you to fulfil your role

The right person will be comfortable in an “all hands on deck” environment, loves solving problems, is excited to work in high-performance teams, and can thrive in a startup culture.

  • A degree in a quantitative scientific discipline and/or work experience as a Data Scientist or Data Analyst in a commercial environment.
  • Experience developing machine learning methods, visualizations, and complex analyses on large data sets.
  • Proficiency in Python/R/Julia, SQL, and software engineering best practices. Experience with Dataframes and Spark is a big plus.
  • Proficiency with visualization tools like Matplotlib and ggplot2. Experience creating data science dashboards with tools like Bokeh, Voila, Dash or similar is a plus.
  • Experience building, deploying and maintaining  applications and services on cloud platforms is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills and an interest in being part of highly autonomous and cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent communication in English is a must.

We encourage you to apply even if your profile does not meet all of the requirements for the role yet. We embrace individual growth at MOIA and are ready to invest into training for missing skills.
